GFW Radio was as brilliant as ever in its final days. The show persisted despite
major upheaval at the 1 UP offices, including the cancellation of the Games for
Windows Magazine, the publication with which GFW Radio was ostensibly linked.
But rather than dither at the changes about them, the cast continued to provide
the critical (and droll) commentary the show was known for. Whether engineering
This American Life-style segments, discussing socially questionable behavior in
Second Life, or reflecting on the institutional pressures that brought down the
magazine, that GFW Radio remains perhaps the greatest gaming podcast ever
created, now four years after its end, is a testament to the individuals that manned
those microphones.

SoulCalibur IV, Robert Ashley waxed eloquent about the milk produced by female
Yodas. Anthony Gallegos reported from a Magic: The Gathering 'gathering,' and
Shawn Elliott recounted still more distressing tales from his childhood. Shawn and
Robert visited various protests and the cast as a whole discussed the issue of
piracy and wondered about the state of the industry. And then, it was time to go...
but not before Jeff read from what must be the most alarming Hero of the Web-
people on the internet discussing how they find diapers sexually gratifying. This
was GFW Radio.

Jeff Green
Jeff Green joined Ziff Davis in 1991, starting out on the publishing house's line of
computer gaming magazines. He eventually became editor-in-chief of Computer
Gaming World, a tremendously popular magazine in its day. It was later rebranded
as Games for Windows Magazine. Green's long tenure and dedication to his craft
saw him become a popular figure among readers and listeners. As 1 UP looked to
build a podcast network in late 2005, Green took on hosting duties for his
magazine's podcast when it launched in January 2006. Green left the 1UP Network
in 2008.
Shawn Elliott
Elliott joined the 1 UP/Ziff Davis network early on, starting out at Electronic Gaming
Monthly. Initially he was given low quality games to review owing to his funny and
canny writing style. He later shifted over to Computer Gaming World. He made his
name at CGW and particularly on GFW Radio, where he shared numerous stories
and unleashed his array of comical voices. He left 1 UP and Ziff Davis in 2008 to
work for Irrational Games.
Ryan Scott
After joining Computer Gaming World magazine Ryan Scott was promptly put in
charge of creating demo disks. He gradually rose up in the ranks at Ziff Davis and
1 UP, ultimately becoming an executive editor, before being cut in late 2008. He
promptly began work on building his own podcast network.
Sean Molloy
Sean Molloy jumped into the role of producer for GFW Radio in early 2006. Prior to
the podcast, Molloy had worked on Computer Gaming World magazine. In 2008
Molloy left 1 UP.com to work for Blizzard Entertainment.
Robert Ashley
Ashley started out as a freelancer, writing for various outlets including Electronic
Gaming Monthly and Games for Windows Magazine. He became a regular on the
show in late 2007. After the cancellation of the magazine, Ashley flitted between
several projects, including his A Life Well Wasted podcast and the GFW Radio spin-
off Out of the Game. He later formed the two-man band I Come to Shanghai.
Anthony Gallegos
Anthony began his career in the enthusiast press as an intern for 1 UP. He caught
the eye of co-worker Shawn Elliott, who introduced Anthony as a recurring co-host
on GFW Radio. Later, he wrote for Gamespy, and now works for the editorial team
at IGN. {Adapted from his IGN biography.)

Thanks for not ending this great podcast on a low note (collapse of G4W,
the 2 stars leaving). The last hour will leave you with happy memories :)
